Connecting a Wallet

To register land, buy parcels, or collect tax revenue on merca.earth, you need a wallet. Your wallet is your identity on the Sui blockchain — it holds your SUI tokens, signs transactions, and proves ownership of your parcels. No personal information is required; your wallet address is all the protocol needs.

Three ways to connect:

  1. Social sign-in (Google, Facebook, Twitch) — easiest, no extension required.
  2. Sui browser-extension wallets — Sui Wallet, Suiet, Ethos, and others.
  3. MetaMask (via Sui Snap) — use your existing MetaMask on desktop.

Social Sign-In with zkLogin

No crypto wallet yet? Social sign-in is the fastest way to start. It uses Mysten Labs' Enoki service and Sui's zkLogin to create a blockchain wallet tied to your Google, Facebook, or Twitch account. No browser extension needed; works on desktop and mobile.

How it works

  1. Click Connect / Sign In in the top-right corner.
  2. In the wallet chooser, find the Enoki Sign-In section.
  3. Choose your provider — for example, Sign in with Google.
  4. A standard OAuth window opens. Sign in and approve access.
  5. You are returned to merca.earth with your wallet connected.

Behind the scenes, zkLogin generates a Sui address from your social identity using zero-knowledge proofs. Your social credentials never touch the chain — the proof confirms you control the account without revealing private data.

Mobile

On mobile, social sign-in is the primary connection method. The app detects your device and shows available providers. If only one provider is configured (e.g., Google), tapping the button connects you immediately.

Sui Browser-Extension Wallets

If you prefer a dedicated crypto wallet, install a Sui-compatible browser extension:

  • Sui Wallet — official wallet from Mysten Labs (Chrome).
  • Suiet — community wallet with a clean interface.
  • Ethos Wallet — another well-regarded option.

How to connect

  1. Install your preferred wallet extension from your browser's extension store.
  2. Create or import a wallet and fund it with SUI tokens.
  3. Open merca.earth and click Connect / Sign In.
  4. The wallet chooser shows a Wallet Extensions section listing detected extensions.
  5. Click the wallet you want.
  6. Approve the connection in the extension popup.
  7. Your wallet address and balance appear in the top-right corner.

The app automatically detects installed extensions that follow the Sui wallet standard. If you install a new wallet after loading the page, refresh so it can be detected.

MetaMask (Sui Snap)

Already have MetaMask? No separate extension needed. merca.earth supports the Sui MetaMask Snap, a plugin that adds Sui support inside MetaMask.

How to connect

  1. Make sure MetaMask is installed and unlocked.
  2. Click Connect / Sign In on merca.earth.
  3. In the Wallet Extensions section, select MetaMask.
  4. MetaMask prompts you to install the Sui Snap if needed — confirm the installation.
  5. Approve the connection.
  6. Your Sui address is generated inside MetaMask, and you are connected.

The Sui Snap creates a Sui-specific address within MetaMask, separate from your Ethereum addresses. The Snap is only available on desktop browsers where MetaMask is installed.

Why not regular MetaMask?

merca.earth runs on Sui, not Ethereum. Standard MetaMask cannot sign Sui transactions. The Sui Snap bridges that gap. If MetaMask without the Snap is detected, the app hides it from the wallet list to avoid confusion.

Managing Your Wallet

Click your wallet area in the top-right corner to open the wallet panel:

  • View your balance — current SUI balance at the top.
  • Copy your address — click the copy icon next to your shortened address.
  • See owned parcels — all your parcels with current market value and level. Click any parcel to fly to it on the map.
  • Review sales and revenue — total proceeds, spending, tax collected, and profit.
  • Consolidate coins — if you have many small SUI coin objects from transactions, a consolidation button merges them for more efficient future transactions.
  • Disconnect — click the logout icon. Your on-chain assets are unaffected; reconnect any time.

The app remembers your last connection method and attempts to reconnect automatically on return visits.

Getting SUI Tokens

You need SUI to pay gas fees and to register or purchase parcels:

  • Centralized exchanges — buy SUI on Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, or OKX, then withdraw to your Sui wallet address.
  • Bridges — use Wormhole or the official Sui Bridge to transfer value from other chains.
  • On-ramps — MoonPay or Transak let you buy SUI directly with a credit card.

Send SUI to the address shown in the merca.earth wallet panel. Once the transfer confirms (typically a few seconds on Sui), your balance updates and you are ready to go.
